One-day workshop
The Evolving Breath: From Function to Flow
Organised by Well Flexed
Intelligent breathwork for a calmer mind, clearer focus and a more resilient nervous system in the modern world. Fully experiential, trauma-informed and grounded in biology.

Do you feel tired but wired, unable to switch off, sleeping or focusing badly, or anxious, stressed or overwhelmed? This evolving breath day explores practical tools to help you feel calmer, clearer, healthier, more connected and more resilient. Our evolutionary biology is mismatched with the demands of modern life, and the stress and disordered breathing that follow are linked to many modern health problems. Once we understand how the resulting neurochemical and hormonal cascade affects the body and mind, we can work with it deliberately.
What we will explore
- Functional breathing as a core wellbeing strategy
- The neurobiology of stress and trauma, and how each relates to breath (the session is trauma-informed and resilience-focused)
- Down-regulation practices for inner peace
- Intelligent breath holding, and navigating brainwave, neural and conscious states
- The neurobiology of flow states, and practising them
- Male and female physiology, with cyclical practices for female practitioners to take home
- Emotional intelligence and contemplative practices to take home
- Discipline, habit creation and integration, and breath-mind-body strategies for optimisation
